Bullying Awareness and Prevention Workshop
Bullying Awareness and Prevention Workshop “Creating a Safe and Respectful Learning Environment”
Seventy people gathered early in the evening of Friday, August 21st, at a workshop sponsored by FEEF, to hear two Clark County School District (CCSD) representatives speak on the topic of Bullying and Cyberbullying. Mr. Rodney Lee and Ms. Hildanies Colon, coordinators of the Department of Equity and Diversity Education, provided everyone with the meaning of the terms bullying and cyberbullying, a review of the district’s Behavior Guidelines, and some quick tips on how to report and document incidents. Tips were also given to parents on how to talk to their children about this issue and what behavior to encourage them with, when being bullied.
One student representative shared with the audience a moving, first-hand experience of being bullied and how she was able to overcome the negative experience with her parents’ love and guidance. Mr. Ken Minster, representing Congressman Joe Heck’s office, also shared a few words of support for what FEEF is doing to reach out and educate youths and families.
