Leaders’ Assembly in Korea Begins
The 2015 Cheon Il Guk Leaders’ Assembly kicked off on March 4, 2015 and will continue until March 6. The assembly is being held at the Cheong A Camp in the Cheong Pyeong facility and is a wonderful opportunity for international leaders of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) to gather in Korea, share reports and best practices, and create connections among organizations around the world. Their overall goal is to raise leaders, create the environment of Cheon Il Guk (God’s Kingdom), promote happy families and build peace through the Word, the Blessing and Unificationist traditions.
On the morning of March 4, True Mother shared guidance with the whole group at the Foundation Day Celebratory Banquet. Inspired by her words, everyone gathered by nation later that day to prepare as a team. The 30 leaders and district representative from America prepared diligently for the leaders’ assembly by meeting with Dr. Michael Balcomb, President of FFWPU USA, engaging in team discussions and preparing business cards to network with the other 400 international leaders they would meet at the assembly.
The main event began on March 5, when special sessions were held throughout the day for the group at large. They all began the day with a prayer, followed by opening words from True Mother, delivered by Sun Jin Moon, about what it means to be a Cheon Il Guk leader. Several sessions were then held, including reports from Korea, the United States, Japan and South America. Each continent provided their strategies and goals for 2015, as well as their regional activities, which were also exhibited on large poster displays throughout the halls of the building. Next, the group heard from leading businesses, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), Sun Moon University and the University of Bridgeport.
This assembly is the first time that not only representatives from FFWPU and local churches are involved, but also the providential organizations and businesses, in order to strengthen partnership and synergy. Part of this assembly identified projects for partnership between organizations within and affiliated with FFWPU by sharing business plans in 2015.
The first day of the leaders’ assembly was insightful, and the international leaders are excited to share their experiences with their communities back home. They look forward to a successful closing day tomorrow, when they will hear a message from True Mother once again, participate in special forums and make determinations for 2015.
