43 Couples Blessing: Celebrating 53 Years

Happy 53rd anniversary to all the couples from the 43 Couples’ Blessing! On February 28, 1969, True Parents officiated the Blessing of 13 American couples at the historic Upshur House in Washington, D.C. (also referred to as the 13 Couples Blessing). This was said to be a symbolic representation of the 13 original colonies in America. This ceremony was the first Marriage Blessing conducted outside of Korea, which was then added to two other ceremonies to be collectively known as the 43 Couples Blessing. True Parents held a Marriage Blessing of 8 couples in Essen, Germany, on March 28, 1969, and a Marriage Blessing of 22 couples in Tokyo, Japan, on May 1, 1969.

True Parents celebrated the Marriage Blessing of the 13 American couples on the 20th day of their visit to the U.S. as part of their 1969 world tour. They said the 43 Couples Blessing was conducted on the foundation of the 430 Couples Holy Blessing, which was officiated by True Parents in Korea in 1968 and signified expansion of the Blessing to the worldwide level.

Congratulations to all of the couples celebrating their Blessing anniversary today!
