Celebrating 21 Years: 2002 Marriage Blessing

Happy 21st anniversary to all the couples who participated in the “Interreligious and International Blessing and Rededication Ceremony” on Sept. 14, 2002! This ceremony was the third of four Marriage Blessings officiated by True Parents in America in 2002. 

This historic Blessing ceremony was held in New York City’s Manhattan Center, not far from Ground Zero where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center had been destroyed the previous year. Couples from various faiths participated, including several Christian-Muslim couples. New York Daily News reported the ceremony “couldn’t be more appropriate on the week America marked the first anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.” 

Earlier in 2002, True Parents held the 144,000 Clergy Couple Blessing on April 27, the 1.44 Million Second Generation Christian Youth and World Religious Youth Blessing on July 3, and the “National Blessing for Reconciliation” on December 7 — making it a historic year for the Blessing in America.
