Remembering Dr. Bo Hi Pak
It’s been three years since the passing of beloved Unification leader Dr. Bo Hi Pak, who ascended Jan. 12, 2019 at age 90 (Korean age), with his seonghwa ceremony held Jan. 15. Among the many early Unification disciples, Dr. Pak was often called True Father’s “right-hand man” or “top deputy.”
Born Aug. 18, 1930 in Chung Nam Province south of Seoul, Dr. Pak entered the Korean Military Academy as a cadet. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Korean army before joining the Unification movement in the 1950s. He received the Marriage Blessing with Ki Sook Yoon in 1961 as part of the 36 Couples Blessing.
An altruistic man, Dr. Pak brought a unique set of accomplishments and victories to the Unification movement. He lived a life of service as the translator, voice and mouthpiece for True Parents for decades. Dr. Pak’s faith, intelligence, and charisma influenced leading providential projects, particularly in media, including the World Media Association, News World, Noticias del Mundo, Ultimas Noticias (Uruguay) and especially the movement’s flagship news outlet, The Washington Times.
Dr. Pak personally shaped CAUSA International in the 1980s to counter communism as well, first in Latin America and then in the U.S. As a mentor and father figure to many, he raised a leadership of “TOP GUNS” that went on to build and create great projects and initiatives around the world. Of his many legacies, though, the Little Angels Children’s Folk Ballet of Korea is at the top of the list. This extraordinary gift to the world by True Parents was personally guided by Dr. Pak’s innate sense of beauty and charm.
Dr. Pak continued to serve in a number of capacities, including president of The Summit Council for World Peace, the Association for the Unity of Latin America (AULA), and the International Security Council where, through these high-level organizations, he was able to bring royalty, presidents, heads of state and other prominent leaders to True Parents. Let us honor and remember Dr. Pak’s selfless spirit and resolute determination to live in faith and attendance to God and True Parents.
