Paving a Way Forward

Unificationist leaders across America are paving the way forward with a new era of our faith movement. Senior pastors and their teams, including many youth ministry leaders, will focus on strengthening several core areas leading up to the new year.

Rev. Demian Dunkley, FFWPU-USA president and regional chair, recently outlined new key objectives for leadership which include: settling Cheon Shim Won prayer vigils; community information management; increasing local tithing, member visitation, growth and engagement, as well as improving the overall church and worship experience.

“[We want] to make sure that every community has someone who is accountable for the information and development of these goals,” Rev. Dunkley said during an online leader’s meeting Oct. 3. He emphasized the necessary coordination and support of every team, along with reports tracking each community’s progress.

Rev. Dunkley also called on young leaders to be “superstars” in creating a new worship environment, as elder leaders let them take the reigns with fresh ideas.

“[Let’s] pray in the Cheon Shim Won and listen to what True Mother is saying about it, and ask God what God wants us to do — how God wants us to worship in the Family Fed in the Cheon Shim Won era,” Rev. Dunkley said. “We’ll set up a whole workshop dedicated to how to worship ... and we’ll share best practices together.”

Rev. Dunkley further noted that more community donations can fund the new changes leaders wish to implement. “[Tithing] is a normal kind of Christian foundation that we should stand on and improve,” he said.

Then there’s member visitation — an important element in this new era, Rev. Dunkley said, while urging personal visits to all community members. He said this kind of one-on-one engagement can revitalize members.

The new leadership strategy comes in response to True Mother’s establishment of the Cheon Shim Won in America in 2022, and the subsequent opening of 50 prayer vigils across the country this year.

“True Mother is really looking at the young generation,” Rev. Dunkley said, stating that America can set the standard for the movement’s youth leadership in the future.
