Rev. Dunkley's Message on Sept. 23, 2025

September 23, 2025

Dear Family Members,

I have just returned to Korea from my short trip to America.

It was wonderful to be with you at Belvedere—roughly 600 in person and thousands more online. As I mentioned, I came to be recharged by your spirit so that I could bring it back here to support True Mother.  Your presence and words of encouragement filled my pockets with love and confidence for the sake of True Mother in Korea. Thank you, America!

We need your determined spirit now more than ever.

As you will have heard the shocking news, our beloved True Mother has taken on the heavy burden of being detained, even though she has done no wrong. Personally I can’t bring myself to believe that it has come to this. It is truly, truly unimaginable.

Nonetheless, True Mother’s thoughts are always for others. Several times in recent weeks I’ve heard her express concern over the fate of Korea and the Korean people. Especially since the time of the unprecedented raid on July 18, she has hoped that indemnity for Korea could be avoided. And now, as she sits in the detainment center, I believe she is carrying this burden with that in mind. With the hope that her suffering can be offered in exchange for the suffering of humanity.

Her words tell it all: “Don’t worry about me. Please pray for the wellbeing of our blessed families.”

As you can imagine, our family members in Korea are devastated. Members are in tears, crying out to Heaven to find grace for True Mother’s sake, to offer strength and comfort in this moment of crisis.

Your prayers are needed too. This is the time to lift up True Mother and one another with prayer, devotion, and love. Let’s each find a way to contribute to an atmosphere of faith and encouragement. Whatever our perspectives, let’s keep our hearts focused on Heaven’s will and True Parents’ mission.

I’m sure many of you have questions. If you have not yet had a moment to watch my message from Sunday, that pretty much brings you up to date as of Sunday, September 21: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Moo3rrs1xA

However, since then, the judge has authorized the special prosecutor’s request to detain our True Mother. Initially, it is a ten-day period that can be extended, but I believe her lawyers are trying to petition the decision.

I want to let you know that this is not simple. Aside from our sincere prayers, we will be reaching out to you all for specific ways to help. We will also continue to share updates as things unfold. For now, let us join our Korean family in prayer and trust that Heaven is guiding the ship through this storm.

With gratitude and determination,

Rev. Demian Dunkley
Continental Director, North America
