Family Federation for World Peace and Unification Statement on Special Prosecutor’s Request for Hak Ja Han Arrest Warrant

September 18, 2025

- Our Position on the Special Prosecutor's Request for an Arrest Warrant for Dr. Hak Ja Han

The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (hereinafter referred to as the Family Federation) expresses its deepest concerns and heartbreak regarding the request for an arrest warrant for Dr. Hak Ja Han.

Dr. Hak Ja Han, 83 years old, recently underwent a heart procedure and was hospitalized. During the recovery process, she suffered a sudden recurrence of arrhythmia, which led to her receiving medication. Following the medical team's recommendations, she is currently undergoing a period of rest and recovery management.

Despite the life-threatening recurrence of the arrhythmia, Dr. Hak Ja Han, who has dedicated herself to her public missions, including world peace, the unification of North and South Korea, and the resolution of the Korea-Japan conflict, proudly appeared voluntarily at the special prosecutor's summons and answered all necessary questions from the prosecutor for nine hours and thirty minutes. However, the special prosecutor's request for an arrest warrant, citing flight risk and destruction of evidence, is disappointing. It appears that the special prosecutor, who is supposed to follow the law and principles, is acting in a way that is driven by public opinion and performance, not by the law.

Furthermore, former Chief Yoon Young-ho, the sole witness to the Chairman's orders, denied some of the facts at trial yesterday and even refused to acknowledge the Chairman's orders, refusing to acknowledge the authenticity of his own testimony to the prosecution. Requesting an arrest warrant against the Chairman based on Yoon Young-ho's testimony is an excessive and unreasonable measure, as it is a request for an arrest warrant without evidence.

Furthermore, requesting an arrest warrant against an internationally respected religious leader without providing clear evidence is an act that betrays even the most basic level of respect for religious leaders. This not only undermines trust in the rule of law in Korea, but could also negatively impact the Republic of Korea's standing in the global community.

The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification strongly condemns the special prosecutor's actions, which constitute unjust suppression of an international religious leader. We strongly condemn the President's actions, which should have been preceded by humanitarian consideration and rational judgment, rather than unreasonable and coercive procedures. The President has already been conducting all procedures with a responsible attitude, and any coercive measures that ignore this can never be justified.

The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification will use this incident as an opportunity for deep self-reflection and more thorough reform to fulfill its original mission. Furthermore, we pledge to be reborn as a responsible religion that contributes substantially to the peace and development of society, the nation, and the world.
